Why I am a vegetarian? (technically a pescatarian)

If I had a dollar for every single person that asked me why I chose to become a vegetarian… I'd take the dollars I made from it and I'd donate it to no-kill shelters.

I have MANY reasons on why I chose to become a vegetarian. Let me first start off by admitting though, I remember thinking and saying, "I could never give up meat completely." Two and a half years later… Here I am, "meat-free." I do eat seafood, but maybe only a few times a month. I do still eat eggs, cheese, and yogurt too. Don't criticize me… Any change is better than no change… Right?

It all began with a cleanse. I was getting really tired and lethargic… I felt like I couldn't even think or walk straight. This was happening EVERY SINGLE DAY. My friend told me about a vegan cleanse she was doing that her nutrionist had recommended her to do. It was a vegan cleanse, but it also cut out sugar, gluten, and some fruits and vegetables including potatoes and bananas. I lasted 3 1/2 weeks and I can't explain to you the amount of energy I had! I lost about seven lbs. too, which for someone my size is a lot!

During this time, I did a lot of research on becoming a vegetarian because everyone around me was telling me, "Kim, you need meat… You need protein." Like most things, I didn't believe it and I decided to research it myself. With research comes a lot of fallacies. There are so many organizations teaming up saying that you need meat and so many organizations saying that you don't need meat. What I will tell you (I'm not a doctor or a scientist), but I'm a nerd and I did a lot of research and I hope my opinions will not just convince you, but I hope they make you think as well… And maybe lead you to do some research for yourself.

What I learned is that EVERYTHING has a PH balance. Yes, what you learned in chemistry and with the periodic table. I learned what foods are extremely acidic to the body and that some acidic foods actually lead to a better PH balance (i.e.; Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar and lemons). I learned that EVERY SINGLE PERSON IS BORN WITH CANCER CELLS!!!! YES, EVEN YOU! And that cancer cells can only grow in non-alkaline or acidic environments and that scientists have PROVEN that cancer cells are unable to grow in an alkaline or a higher PH balanced body. Could this possibly be the cure? Who knows, but it definitely is worth trying to prevent!

I learned that red meat is one of the most acidic products you can put into your body. I studied so much about the colon because it's the main organ responsible for all of your other organs getting the nutrients that your body needs… Think about it, if it's clogged, your nutrients aren't being delivered. If you are to take care of one organ in your body, I'd recommend the colon since every single part of you is dependent on the reception of these nutrients. I learned so much about water… And how important it is to drink a good amount; and a good amount of FRESH, pure water (this also helps flush out the toxins in your colon too!). I learned about how your skin reacts to impurities in your colon and in your other organs and that a majority of skin disorders can be cured by taking care of your insides; curing your body from the inside out.

Aside from learning about my health and consumption, I did a lot of research about the foods I was eating. I learned about GMO (genetically modified organisms), which if you haven't learned about, I encourage you to research it RIGHT NOW and make sure you google "Monsanto" while you're at it. I have never been so disgusted in my life. I learned that we were eating sick animals, animals that were fed GMOs, and that these animals weren't living of the farms that I grew up thinking about. This was no "Old McDonald Had a Farm" type of scenario… It was more like "Silence of the Lambs…" I knew that I could no longer support a business or company that thought it was right to treat any living thing like this. My family raised me to always defend those that can't fend for themselves: the elderly, children, and animals. Speak for those without a voice or for those that no one cares to listen to.

I'm not sure how aware you are of pigs, but did you know that they are almost identically built like a human being? You eating a pork chop is almost exactly like taking a bite of your neighbors ass; no, I'm not kidding. Did you know that medical facilities actually have pig parts and organs within their reach because they are and have been used as organ donations? Don't believe me? See for yourself. Pigs are smarter than dogs, and are extremely aware of their surroundings…

I don't want to bore you, but I do want to leave you with a link to a video… It's only SIX MINUTES LONG… Please take the time to learn about the industry with the production of livestock… After all, we're responsible for this!
